Thorofon - what more do you need to explain? Dan Courtman and Geneviève Pasquier have been heroes and dance floor savers since our first parties, one of the drivers of the German industrial/Angstpop scene since 1995.
Musically, they offer an extreme range of driving noise/power electronics ("Extinguished Bodies", "Riot Dictator", "Troopers Playground", "Maximum Punishment Solutions"), ice-cold monotonous rhythm tracks ("Blacksouls", "Gigamesh", "Devils Share"), post-punk/minimal electronics ("Cold Fever") to beautifully catchy sleazy-cheesy Angstpop ("Flesh and Steel", "Flesh and Steel"). ("Flesh and Steel", "In Blood and Heels", "lonely Mass") in the tradition of SPK & Co - and that's just Thorofon, the numerous other projects like Geneviève Pasquier (2009 Live as a guest at our DruckEmpfingeN-Festival), Kommando, The Musick Wreckers, UMB-Kollektif etc. we haven't even mentioned yet...
It is rumoured that they will release a new record soon - we can be curious...
Kevin Tomkins and Paul Talyor have been industrial and power electronics pioneers, for more than 40 years.
Kevin Tomkins started the project Sutcliffe Jügend in 1982, the name referring to the British serial killer Peter Sutcliffe. After one year, Sutcliffe Jügend paused because Kevin Tomkins joined the project Whitehouse, who are considered the founders of the genre "power electronics" since 1980. (btw: Whitehouse performed at our mini-festival in 2001 together with Objekt/Urian...). In 1994, Sütcliffe Jügend was revived when Paul Taylor joined. In 2019, the project came to an end under the old name and continued shortly after with the new name "Sutcliffe no More".
Musically, you can expect a thrilling ride between ultra-brutal adrenaline noise, high frequencies, loud screams and quiet spoken-word sequences that suddenly erupt into noise orgies again. Regular guests of ours were already able to experience this in 2012 at our ZugZwang Festival III.
Active since 1996, buddies and partners-in-crime since our first hours. There have been countless joint gigs with our "resident band" Objekt/Urian - unforgotten is the joint gig in 2003. "vs. The Audience" at the Bessunger Knabenschule, which ended with the PA blowing up. The track "Kein Verlust" has been reliably filling our dance floor since 1998.
Musically, they remind us of the early raw Einstürzende Neubauten, before they (Neubauten) became red wine-drinking philosophising dandies... Sweating bodies hammer on sheet metal and chains, iron girders are treated with angle grinders while plaintive angry lyrics are shouted into the audience, accompanied by technoid synth sequences.
It is a great honour for us to be able to host these promising newcomers for their debut in Germany. Tasime Da Hidonash are a new German-Georgian duo consisting of the performance artist and singer Tasime from Georgia and DJ/producer Hidonash from Düsseldorf.
The two are not that new to the business after all - Tasime has been on the road in various music projects since 2016 and Hidonash has been active as a DJ/producer/organiser in the (dark) techno scene since 2019, including with his label/collective "System ctl". Both are regulars and performers at the "Khidi Club" in Tbilisi/Georgia, THE legendary (dark) techno temple of the capital.
In 2022 they released their debut album "Daskhiveba" as a tape on the Spanish EBM label Soil Records.
Musically, they could best be described as "ritual percussive dark techno". With their concise voice and Georgian lyrics, they are sometimes strongly reminiscent of the ritual Sixth Comm stuff or Mother Destruction and Hybrids.
